Rowers paddled furious across a Thai river in a lively annual boat race.

Footage shows the locals on long tail boats battling to cross the finish line on the Chao Phraya River in Samut Praka province on the outskirts of Bangkok.

The winners of the Phra Pradaeng District boat race, said to be the largest boat racing event in the province, were awarded trophies by Princess Sirindhorn, the second daughter of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

A fair with various food stalls was also opened, and there were daily concerts featuring 'luk thung' or Thai country musicians.

The boat race was held in the Phra Pradaeng District from November 2 to 4.
