STORYLINE:

Türkiye makes efforts for a third evacuation mission for patients from the Gaza Strip, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said Tuesday.

SOUNDBITE (Turkish): FAHRETTIN KOCA, Turkish Health Minister
"The third evacuation may be carried out in the coming days. Our priority was especially babies, children, and the injured. We are currently working on a list of 50 people, mainly children. I think this will be finalized in the coming days." 

They are planning to first evacuate babies under 12 months old and toddlers and children up to 4 years old, the Turkish minister said.

The total number of Gazan patients brought to Türkiye has reached 88 after 61 arrived in Ankara on Monday.

Israel has been striking Gaza over the past weeks to retaliate against the Hamas attacks on southern Israel on Oct. 7. The conflict has so far led to the deaths of over 14,000 Palestinians in Gaza, while on the Israeli side, about 1,200 people have lost their lives, the majority of whom were killed in the Hamas attacks.
