A DIY dad has gone viral after sharing his top tip for getting pesky permanent marker stains out of walls – and it costs less than £3.

Martin Gregory is no stranger to a home improvement hack and has previously impressed the internet with his budget kitchen makeover and £10 stair lights.

In his latest video, the 33-year-old electrical engineer and dad-of-one can be seen showing his followers how to remove sharpie stains from doors and walls and it’s simpler than you think (@martindiy ).

All you need is a bottle of Lynx deodorant, apparently.

“[It’s] the easy way to get pen off the wall,” Martin from South Shields told NeedToKnow.co.uk.

“Spray it, wipe it, and goodbye permanent marker.

“It’s nearly Christmas so us lads will have plenty stocked up soon enough.”

The video shows Martin writing on his wall with a blue permanent marker and then simply spraying over it with a Lynx product.

He then wipes it with a cloth and the stain is nowhere to be seen.

Martin has previously hit the headlines for his budget £500 kitchen makeover during which he did all the labour himself, along with partner Courtney, who lent a helping hand.

The pair have taken on various home improvement projects while sticking to a budget – the most expensive ones so far costing just shy of £500.

Martin, who says “Why pay when you can have a crack yourself” has even created his own media wall after building the frame from materials from local businesses and B&Q.

The DIY dad has also overhauled his garden after being quoted £5,000, by purchasing materials on offer including decking lights for only £10.

Across all of his DIY videos, the dad has amassed over 7,000 likes with users asking him where he is based – so he can come and help with their renovations.

Social media users have lapped up the savvy dad’s tips, with many commenting on their appreciation and praising Martin for his handiwork.

Eileen said: “Can you do mine.”

Another person added, “This video will help people to realise that they can have a go themselves.”

Angie said “Amazing wish you lived closer to me I definitely ask u.” [sic]

Patricia added, “Travel from Newcastle to Liverpool, I’ll pay ye travel expenses.” [sic]

Another person added: “I love this it looks outstandingly amazing I need one.”
