Five people were killed when a car fell into a gorge in Pakistan's southern Sindh province in the wee hours of Friday morning, police said.

The accident happened in Shikarpur district of the province, where the overspeeding vehicle suffered low visibility caused by fog, Naimat Ullah Khan, who is in charge of the district's police control room, told Xinhua.

Due to the dense fog, the driver could not assess the severity of an upcoming sharp turn, and the vehicle veered off the road and plunged into the gorge as he navigated the bend, the policeman said.

The deceased were members of a family who were on their way back home in the district from the capital city Quetta of the southwest Balochistan province, Khan added.

Presently, Pakistan is experiencing fluctuations in weather patterns, leading to the emergence of dense fog in various regions during both morning and night hours, which causes certain sections of highways to close temporarily due to limited visibility.
