A lucky man had a stroke of good fortune after he found piles of cash hidden inside an old mattress that he picked up from the street.

The man, who runs a household recycling centre, had spent his days collecting scraps in order to make a living.

But the man from the city of Wuzhou, located in the east part of the Guangxi Region, in China, experienced a lucky break after he ran across an old mattress in the streets.

He was overjoyed when he removed the cover and found stashes of money hidden between the support coils on Wednesday, December 6.

Footage shows the cash spread along the coil surface, as the excited finder takes a stash of CNY 100 (GBP 11) bills and starts counting them.

A woman standing next to him can be heard excitedly helping him take the money out of the mattress.
