A Christmas camel! London residents perplexed by desert animal roaming streets
Locals in Chingford, London, were left perplexed as they spotted a camel walking down their street on December 16.
Paige managed to capture a video of the desert animal walking down her street. It was her 4-year-old daughter who spotted the camel first and immediately told her mum who did not believe her at first.
The mother said: "I was at home with my daughter. She is 4 years old and as kids can be, their imagination runs wild.
"She was at the window and called out to me to say 'there’s a camel out side mummy!' Of course, at first, I didn’t believe her, but she sounded too excited so I went to the window.
"Much to my surprise there was a camel outside walking down the road, led by a woman! Everyone stopped in awe taking pictures and videos. I did the same. I was amused and confused at the same time."
Paige later uploaded the video to social media where it went viral with viewers questioning why a camel was walking down the streets of London.
The filmer told Newsflare: "After many likes and comments later, it was clear that this camel is being used for Christmas Nativity plays across the city, which in a way is a good idea, however not sure how good this is for the animal.
"I wasn’t even aware there were camels in this country, especially at this time of year. Does the London cold weather affect the camel? Is it nice to use a camel for entertainment purposes, whether or not it’s for children?
"I do feel like a lot of things nowadays are just done in jest, without careful thought and consideration. Surely there could be another way to make a nativity play more exciting without using live animals? Maybe it’s just me."
