A group of holidaymakers was left briefly stranded when the Bactrian camel stood motionless in the middle of the motorway in Zhangye, Gansu.
Footage shows a man attempting to shoo the unfazed pad-footed mammal, but it just stared back at him as it lounged on the asphalt on November 11.
Other tourists can be heard giggling at the encounter.
Experts said Bactrian camels are generally docile animals, but they can attack, especially when they feel threatened, are handled improperly, or are fighting during mating season.
