RNLI's Joyful Christmas Concert on the Quay in Christchurch, UK
This footage was filmed and produced 15 December 2023.
Mudeford Quay came alive on the evening of December 15 as Mudeford RNLI hosted its inaugural Christmas concert, "Carols on the Quay." The event drew an impressive crowd of over a thousand local residents and visitors.
RNLI volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager, Tim Hewett, kicked off the festivities by welcoming attendees and introducing the Worshipful Mayor, Councillor Viv Charrett, who officially opened the event. The evening featured local choristers, The Choir Engine, leading the audience through an hour of festive carol singing on a picturesque winter's night.
Rookie the Reindeer and Stormy Stan from the RNLI added a touch of holiday cheer, entertaining the audience as they enjoyed burgers and mulled wine at the Haven House Inn and Cafe.
Following the concert, Mudeford RNLI volunteer crew members offered tours of the Mudeford RNLI station, including the Mudeford Servant Atlantic 85 lifeboat. Tim Hewett expressed gratitude to the community, highlighting the importance of local support for the lifesaving charity's crucial work at sea.
With the success of the event, Tim Hewett shared the hope of making Carols on the Quay an annual tradition, especially as the RNLI approaches its 200th anniversary next year.
Local resident Chelsea, who attended the concert, praised the evening, emphasizing the joy of seeing the community unite for a great cause. With 85 callouts this year, surpassing the total for 2022, the event served as both a festive celebration and a reminder of the RNLI's vital role in safeguarding lives at sea.
The Mudeford RNLI Carols on the Quay Christmas concert received support from The Haven House Inn and Cafe and sponsorship from Mitchells Estate Agents.
