This marks the 13th year in which Kary Movers of Metro Vancouver, BC Canada spends the week working for free to assist the Surrey Food Bank in serving the community. As the company donates the use of trucks each year for the week as required and the cost of fuel, the staff all volunteer their time to pick up much-needed food and essential products for those in need.

Today marked the final day of the 2023 annual event with the Kary teams delivering an estimated 25,000lbs of donations to the Surrey Food Bank Warehouse and Distribution Centre. Other than a small delay due to one of the drivers locking the keys in the truck, the week's donation drives around the city were amazing. The schools, businesses and other groups stepped up this year. The cost of inflation on budgets has been felt very far and wide this past year. To see people give at this level is heartwarming and inspiring.

The Surrey Food Bank estimates that the number of clients requiring services this year has increased by about 40%. Without the incredible work of the Surrey Food Bank and other food banks around Canada and the United States, many families would be going hungry at this time of year.
