The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated on Friday it has started military operations in southern Gaza's Khirbat Ikhza'a region.
Khirbat Ikhza'a region is where Hamas launched its attack on Israel on Oct. 7, resulting in casualties and the abduction of civilians to Gaza.

"As the war between Hamas and Israel has lasted exactly 12 weeks on Friday, the Israeli army continued to extend operations in the Gaza Strip and exchange fire with Lebanon's Hezbollah military group in the north. Israeli media reported that talks between Israel and Hamas to negotiate the release of hostages appeared to be ongoing, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday hinting at progress during a meeting with families of those held by Hamas in Gaza. The current offer on the table is likely to be similar to the agreement in a previous week-long temporary truce, which saw Hamas free over 100 civilians of the roughly 240 hostages in return for a pause in fighting, an increase in humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and the release of Palestinian prisoners."
