The 2024 Indonesia Masters badminton tournament began on Tuesday at Istora Senayan sports stadium in the capital of Jakarta, with 278 players from 29 countries and regions participating in the event.
Chinese Taipei deployed the largest number of players at 36 in the tournament, followed by China with 34 players, and Indonesia also with 34 players.
However, some top shuttlers skipped this year's Indonesia Masters, including Danish men's singles player Viktor Axelsen, South Korean women's singles player An Se-Young, Chinese women's doubles pair Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan, and Chinese men's doubles pair Liang Weikeng/Wang Chan.
The Indonesia Masters, part of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 500, will end on Sunday, awarding a total prize money of 420,000 U.S. dollars.
