Husband's heartfelt vows include emotional letter to bride's late father, bringing wedding guests to tears
Ian Sauer's emotional speech dedicated to his bride's late father left guests unable to stop the tears from flowing.
Held in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, Sauer took a moment to talk to Karlee Eldrige's father who passed before they met.
The groom starts his emotional speech by saying: "Unfortunately, today one person is missing."
"I can now genuinely say I know the feeling of missing someone I've never met. I wish with all of me that I could talk to him just one time. A couple of precious moments together to remember the night with my new father-in-law."
The bride's brother Kyle Eldridge, who was the wedding's officiant, is seen choking up whilst holding the microphone to Sauer's mouth.
"If I know anything about Kenny, he was a big note guy. So whatever part of the universe he's in, I wrote something to him to close my vows that I hope he can hear," the groom continues.
"Dear Kenny, first, thank you. Karlee would not be the person she is today without your presence. She's a conclusion of your warmth, unconditional love, and guidance. I want you to know that there isn't anything in the world that makes me as happy as loving your daughter.
"I promise to make you proud to be my father-in-law," Sauer says whilst holding back tears.
The groom concludes his emotional vows by saying: "She's in good hands I promise. And I'm happy to take it from here. Love now and always."
Kyle then says, "Holy s***," into the microphone as the camera reveals rows of crying family members and guests.
The video has been posted to TikTok where it racked up over 5.6 million views, leaving many viewers in tears.
"Genuinely never thought a stranger's wedding vows would have me in tears," one user said.
Another commented: “'I’m happy to take it from here' EXCUSE ME I'm sobbing."
