Julian Assange protest outside Sydney Town Hall as extradition hearing begins
Protests are being held across Australia and around the world as Julian Assange's lawyers have begun their final United Kingdom legal challenge today to stop the WikiLeaks founder from being sent to the United States to face spying charges arguing that his actions had exposed serious criminal acts by US authorities and that he could face a "flagrant denial of justice" if he is extradited. In Sydney a protest was held at midday outside the US Consulate at 50 Miller Street, North Sydney and a second protest outside Sydney Town Hall at 5pm (shown in video).
