Tower Bridge Shut Down by Pro-Palestine Protesters in London, UK
This footage was filmed and produced 24 February 2024.
Tower Bridge was temporarily closed to vehicles and pedestrians on Saturday due to a protest led by the "Palestine convoy." The demonstrators, waving Palestinian flags and lighting flares, gathered to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
City of London police closed the landmark on February 24 around 5.30pm and reopened it approximately an hour later.
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign, in defense of lobbying MPs in large numbers, highlighted the denial of entry to thousands of people trying to access parliament earlier in the week. Director Ben Jamal emphasized the importance of democratic accountability and criticized the restrictions placed on those attempting to engage with their representatives.
Abu Amaanah, who captured video footage of the protest, expressed solidarity with the people of Gaza facing violence. The "Palestine convoy" played a significant role in organizing the demonstration at Tower Bridge, showing ongoing support for those affected by the conflict.
