This footage was filmed and produced 5 March 2024.

In an annual event at the Milwaukee County Zoo, the animal care team recently conducted radiographs on the rheas to check for foreign materials in their GI tracts. The rheas, known for being indiscriminate eaters, were the focus of the team's attention as they worked to ensure the birds' health and safety.

Rose and Blanche, the two rheas at the zoo, voluntarily participated in the radiograph procedure, which required patience and creativity from the team to get the birds in the correct positioning. After a few attempts, the team successfully captured the necessary images, revealing that no metallic objects were found in the rheas' GI tracts.

The results of the radiographs were a relief for the zoo staff, as they indicated that everything looked normal for Rose and Blanche.
