In the Montepergola Tunnel, pieces of concrete broke through the windshield of a passing vehicle. Miraculously, the two people inside were unharmed. The stretch of highway has been closed, causing heavy traffic repercussions.

They were driving along the Salerno-Avellino connection towards the capital of Avellino when, in the Montepergola tunnel, in the territory of the Municipality of Solofra, a piece of concrete hit the windshield of their car, shattering and breaking through it. The quick reflexes of the driver allowed him, along with the other person in the car, to survive what could have been a tragedy.

Once the car was brought out of the tunnel, the man called the highway police, and then the firefighters arrived for the first intervention to secure the tunnel vault from which the debris had fallen. The dangerous pieces and two segments of metal were removed, but the tunnel was closed by Anas in both directions for the verification of structural, stability, and safety conditions, and for restoration work.

For the two travelers, only a great fright and a damaged car, but the traffic repercussions are heavy: those traveling towards Avellino must now exit at Solofra, while those traveling towards Salerno must exit at Serino. The biggest problem is represented by the many trucks that risk causing chaos in the regular traffic of those municipalities.
