Mourning flags were lowered over the Cathedral of "Saint Alexander Nevsky" of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, due to the death of the Bulgarian Patriarch Neofit I.

Throughout the day, believers lit candles for the repose of the soul of the Head of the Church for the last decade.

The government announced 15 and 16 March as days of national mourning in Bulgaria. On Saturday, his body will be taken to the church "St. Sunday" in the capital, where he will be buried. The election of the next patriarch must take place within 4 months.
