A football-themed cultural season event kicked off Tuesday in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, northeast China's Jilin Province. The initiative aims to bolster the sport's development in the region, a cradle of the country's football talents.

Over 1,300 football matches will be held throughout the season, which spans various age groups and is expected to attract more than 30,000 athletes and more than 400,000 spectators and participants.

Deputy Governor Yin Zhaohui of Yanbian expressed the region's commitment to nurturing the sport's dynamism and promoting the popularity and influence of its football at home and abroad.

Coinciding with the event's inauguration, the Yanbian Football Youth Training Center, under the General Administration of Sport of China, opened its doors. This marks a significant stride in advancing Yanbian's youth football training infrastructure, setting the stage for future generations of football stars.
