This is the miraculous moment binmen escape being crushed to death by their lorry when it overturns on a bend.

The crew had been collecting rubbish in Rio Branco, in the state of Acre, Brazil, on April 20, when they took a bend too fast and their bin lorry toppled over.

Shocking CCTV footage of the crash shows the lorry going up on two wheels as it flies through the bend at high speed.

One worker standing on the back of the vehicle is sent flying through the air and the driver sails through the smashed windscreen onto the road, with the lorry coming to a stop mere feet from his head.

The driver sits with his head in his hands before gingerly getting to his feet.

Moments later a third collector is seen staggering out of the driver's cab through the broken glass.

The footage ends as other drivers pull up to help the stricken crew.

The local Secretary of City Care, Wellington Chaves, later said that all of the four-man crew miraculously escaped with only minor injuries.

Local media reported that the driver refused to take a breathalyser test and was taken to a police station to give a statement.

The police are investigating the crash.
