A landslide in Indonesia this morning left more than 100 residents feared dead when their homes were buried in mud.

The earth collapsed onto the village of Pasirlangu in the West Bandung region of Indonesia's West Java province at around 2 am local time.

Footage shows the aftermath of the disaster, with the scenery covered in thick sludge and debris from the landfall.

Officials confirmed at midday that at least seven people were dead while around 112 others were missing.

Abdul Muhari, the spokesman for Indonesia's disaster mitigation agency, said: 'The number of missing persons ‌is high, we will try to optimise our search and rescue efforts today.'

Local Police Chief AY Yogaswara said the landslide was accompanied by flash flooding.

The country's armed forces, disaster response teams, volunteers, and the local community are now searching for survivors.
