A man was caught on hilarious video jumping up in fright inside a double-sided lift when another person entered from the door behind him which he did not realise was there.

Surveillance footage from the lift in a building in Zhejiang, China, recorded on the evening of Monday, April 22, shows the man in black entering the lift while looking at his phone.

He then pressed the button for his floor and continued staring at his screen when he noticed the moving lift suddenly stopped.

A second door then opened up behind him leading out onto another floor but he did not realise it was there as he had his back turned the whole time.

He kept pressing the button in confusion, wondering why the door in front of him would not open.

Meanwhile, another person arrived and quietly entered the lift, spooking the man who jumped up in shock when he saw him.

He pressed the button several more times, then finally noticed the second door and slowly exited, apparently still processing the event.
