Gaza Strip, Palestine - March 15, 2024

UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) staff have not ceased their arduous relief work in the Gaza Strip and in the past six months have managed to provide flour to more than 380,000 families who depend on the staple food to prevent starvation.

In addition to the distribution of flour, the Agency is working to provide other vital services to the people of Gaza, who have been under siege, siege and attack by Israel since 7 October.

As Gazans anxiously await the possible announcement of a ceasefire, UNRWA continues its humanitarian work despite Israeli controls on its employees, the lack of security conditions in the Palestinian territory and the lack of funds for its operations.

According to the World Food Programme (WFP), aid has increased in Gaza over the past month, with some 190 trucks per day between 1 and 27 April, up from 161 trucks per day in March. However, this assistance is far from sufficient to end the humanitarian crisis.

The Office for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reiterated that a significant increase in the inflow of relief is urgently needed, recalling that before the start of the conflict, 500 trucks per day were entering Gaza with crucial supplies for the population.
