Highway 'waterfall' surprise after giant water columns obscure vision on expressway
On the morning of May 7th, in Changji, northern China, Mr. Li and his family were driving on the Beijing-Xinjiang Expressway (towards Urumqi from Jimusaer County) when they encountered a sudden sight: towering water columns, resembling a waterfall, obstructed the view ahead on the highway. As their vehicle entered the water column, visibility was completely obscured, and approximately 10 seconds later, they emerged from it.
Footage from the scene also reveals several other vehicles waiting on the emergency lane of the highway, affected by the water columns.
In the afternoon of the same day, the traffic police department of the Xinjiang section of the Beijing-Xinjiang Expressway responded, stating that the leakage had been effectively controlled and did not cause significant disruptions. The water columns resulted from a pipeline rupture, but the road has since been restored to normal traffic flow.
The video was provided with permission from local media.
