Section of elevated highway collapses, causing 4 deaths in northern China
A section of an elevated highway collapsed in northern China, causing four deaths and eight injuries.
The clips from Ezhou city show the collapsed section of the viaduct that had tilted around 70 degrees as it crashed to the ground. One witness said: "I saw a car crushed under the bridge, and a truck overturned as well."
They also said that after hearing a loud sound, "the deck of the bridge came down immediately." He immediately slowed down and stopped to check the situation, but found that a section of the viaduct collapsed on the road ahead.
"There was a big noise at the scene, but not too much smoke," he added.
The cause of the accident is still unclear and under further investigation.
The footage was captured on December 18 and provided by local media with permission.
