STORYLINE:
Pakistan on Friday reiterated the one-China principle, saying that United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 2758 is a reaffirmation of the principle by the United Nations (UN).
The resolution restored the lawful rights of the People's Republic of China at the UN, spokesperson for Pakistan's Foreign Ministry Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said here during a weekly briefing while responding to Xinhua on Taiwan question.
The resolution unequivocally recognized the representatives of the Government of the People's Republic of China as the only legitimate representatives of China to the UN, Baloch said.
"We believe that the resolution remains as valid today as it was in 1971 when Pakistan sponsored this resolution," she said, adding that Pakistan has always stood for full respect for resolutions of the UN.
Pakistan's policy on Taiwan is consistent, clear and principled, the spokesperson said. Taiwan is an inalienable part of the People's Republic of China, she added.
The South Asian country reiterates its call for non-interference in the domestic affairs of all countries as per the UN Charter, according to the spokesperson.
