Some AI robots are helping older people exercise and recover from various illnesses.

Official data shows that about 45 million individuals above the age of 65 in China suffer from disabilities or semi-disabled. More than half require rehabilitation services.

Liu Wenquan, Co-founder, Zuowei Technology:

"We apply AI technology for algorithms and control chips. For example, a healthy person needs 80 points to walk. A bedridden older person might have only 10 or 20 points. Our algorithm adds 60 points, so they can walk."

These are A.I. equipment on display at the China International Pension Industry Exhibition in Beijing. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, individuals aged 60 and above will account for over 30% of China’s total population by 2035. The State Information Center predicts that China's silver economy, which refers to the industries catering to the needs of the aging population, is expected to expand over four times by then.
