STORYLINE:

The China-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) Countries Forum on Industrial and Investment Cooperation opened Thursday in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province.

Themed "Embracing the Future: Advancing High-Quality Industrial and Investment Cooperation between China and GCC Countries," the event was co-hosted by the National Development and Reform Commission and the People's Government of Fujian Province.

About 600 representatives from government departments, enterprises, financial institutions and other sectors from China and the GCC countries attended the forum.

"I believe there are many opportunities to come. And we are trying to continue our expansion and operations here in multiple fields. Technology, I believe, is a very important field. And China is becoming the hub of many technologies, whether it's in alternative energy, renewable energy, also artificial intelligence and new technologies. So we look forward to being involved in multiple sectors. And I mentioned our relationship (between Saudi Arabia and China) goes a long way, and it helps both of our economies to grow and flourish. And I believe this event here will be a huge potential to further this cooperation. And we look forward to seeing many of the Chinese companies in our region, in the Gulf region, and in Saudi Arabia as well."

"It's a good platform for consolidating trade and investment relationship between China and the GCC countries. And we see here there are huge opportunities in developing different investment partnership in technology, future technology, AI and also other heavy industry, oil and gas developments, logistic developments, tourism developments. All of these factors and sectors and the economies are (having) huge potential."
