Buenos Aires, Argentina - May 24, 2024

The government warned the Spanish authorities in writing that Javier Milei's trip to Madrid last weekend was "a private visit", El Pais newspaper revealed on Thursday. The communication was made in a letter from Ambassador Roberto Bosch to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and flatly contradicts the discourse of the Casa Rosada: spokesman Manuel Adorni stated on several occasions that it was an official activity and therefore the expenses were paid by the State.

"The President of the Argentine Republic, Mr Javier Gerardo Milei, will be in Spain between 17 and 19 May, on a private visit," the letter quoted by El Pais states. The notice, dated 30 April, adds that he will be accompanied by "the Secretary General of the Presidency", his sister Karina. And it is reported that they would travel on the presidential plane, as well as anticipating that precise details on the timetable and delegation would be given later.
