In northern China, Tianjin Zoo's internet-famous sun bear, Bobi (Bobby) married "Hua Di" from Guangdong Zoo in a joyous ceremony.

Their ceremony was held on May 20, 2024, and the date 520 sounds similar to "I love you" in Chinese, making it a romantic day.

On that day, the zoo staff decorated the newlyweds’ habitat with red couplets and the Chinese character “喜”which symbolizes happiness.

The basin on the ground was replaced with a new red one filled with Bobi's favorite Musang King durian, along with some other fruits.

Observing tourists even spontaneously adorned themselves with the red “喜”  traditionally worn on the right side of the head by Tianjin locals at weddings, signifying their participation as the relatives of the bride.

According to local reports, the staff in Tianjin Zoo carefully assessed suitable companions for Bobi, who is of marriageable age and ultimately chose Huadi.

After Huadi arrived in Tianjin, the zoo arranged for the two bears to slowly adapt to each other and become familiar. The relationship between the two bears developed rapidly, which surprised Bobi's keeper, Mr. Fu Tao. Because they adapted well to each other, the zoo decided to hold a ceremony to unite them in the same enclosure, which is the wedding ceremony shown in the video.

It was reported that the bear couple are just two years apart in age and they are also experiencing their first romance.

2024年5月20日，熊山的栏杆上挂上了喜字结，墙上也贴了双喜字，馆舍里贴上了大红对联和双喜字。地面的盆也换成了红色的洗澡盆，里面是波比喜爱的猫山王榴莲。围观的游客们，还自发地在头上别上了天津人结婚才戴的红喜字，并分发了喜糖和“波比”红口罩。据悉，为了给到待嫁年龄的“波比”选择合适的伴侣，天津动物园精心考察，最终相中了广州动物园的“华弟”，它们之间的年龄不仅只差两岁，都是第一次恋爱。上周三“华弟”到达天津后，园里并没有立即给它们合笼，而是让它们比邻而居，先熟悉对方的气味，后来又打开了小窗，让它们熟悉各自的面貌。通过几天的适应，发现“波比”和“华弟”都不排斥对方，而且还能有交流，这才决定给它们举行合笼仪式。
饲养员付涛：（采访）其实他们两个人的发展速度真的是很快，我们也没想到会这么快。波比的反应挺好的，和这个男朋友在一起也比较上的来。然后两个人还在一起贴贴。没有想到会来这么多人。（游客）自发贴了喜字，准备了红色那个喜字发卡，而且统一戴在了右边，来证明咱们都是娘家人。
