Video filmed in Tongling City in Anhui Province on May 27 shows firefighters searching and rescuing on site.
The incident left five people missing. After an exhaustive search and rescue operation, all five missing individuals were located by 1:28 a.m. on 28 May. Tragically, four of them were confirmed dead, while a 12-year-old girl is receiving intensive medical care.
The cause of the collapse is currently under investigation.
The collapsed building, constructed in 2001, was a five-storey brick-concrete structure with two units per floor, housing a total of ten units. The western section, comprising five units, was the part that collapsed. The five missing individuals were all from this section.
