Mexico: Feast of the Holy Trinity
Michoacan, Mexico - May 26, 2024
The Feast of the Holy Trinity is the largest festival celebrated annually on the Sunday following the feast of Pentecost, since the arrival of the Spaniards, in Culhuacan (Mexico); it involves the neighborhoods of the town, including the neighborhoods of Tomatlan, and the neighborhood of Xaltocan Xochimilco.
It is held in honour of the Lord of Calvary and lasts 8 days, being one of the movable festivities. It begins on the Sunday immediately after Pentecost. The rejoicing goes to exactly eight weeks after Easter Sunday.
During the week of festivities, a big fair is set up along Morelos street, on the banks of Tlahuac avenue and in a place next to the village cemetery; we can also find different food stalls, as well as fritters, tamales, cocoles, atoles, among many other things.
