MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - APR. 18, 2025: Dozens of inmates at a Mexico City prison took part in a powerful reenactment of the Via Crucis, or Way of the Cross, on Friday (Apr. 18) as part of a social reintegration program marking Holy Week. After months of preparation and rehearsals, the prisoners at North Male Preventive Prison donned costumes and solemnly portrayed the final hours of Jesus Christ, walking through the prison grounds while carrying crosses, reciting prayers, and acting out biblical scenes. Good Friday is part of Holy Week, which includes Holy Thursday (commemorating the Last Supper) and culminates in Easter Sunday, celebrating Jesus' resurrection. Via Dolorosa is believed by Christians to be the path walked by Jesus on the way to his crucifixion – towards the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
