STORYLINE:

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is on an official visit to China from Tuesday to Saturday.

Ahead of his China tour, Sharif took an interview with Chinese media in Islamabad.

"We (Pakistan and China) are two iron brothers. Our friendship is unshakable. Our hearts beat together. China is one country around the globe, which is one of the most trusted friends of Pakistan, and China has stood by Pakistan through thick and thin."

"Pakistan's stance and our policy on one-China is absolutely clear, and there are no two opinions about it. We consider Taiwan part of China and that is a policy which has been accepted and implemented by all previous governments and all future governments."

"How can we learn from the Chinese model and experience to alleviate poverty in Pakistan, and make people stand on their own feet. We would like to have a different dialogue this time with our great friend China to have investments in feasible projects, promote B2B dialogue, and transform CPEC into a new level, where we go for Special Economic Zones, where we go for transfer of technology, where we talk about shifting of that industry in China."

SOUNDBITE 4 (English): SHEHBAZ SHARIF, Pakistani Prime Minister
"The Chinese side has never wavered from their commitment to support Pakistan. China has always been proactive to promote Pakistan's business, industry, trade, and agriculture. I am going to create enabling circumstances for Chinese investors to come and invest in Pakistan on top of security and measures which will enable Chinese investors to have faith and trust in our policies, which will be long-term policies and there will be no knee-jerk change. We will move in those areas where both Chinese and Pakistani investors will benefit and contribute towards production and growth of our economy, which will benefit both countries."
