Former General and War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz announced on Sunday that he was resigning from the Emergency Executive set up by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying it stood in the way of a "real victory".

"Netanyahu is preventing us from moving towards a real victory. For this reason, we are leaving the Emergency Government today, with a heavy heart, but with all our hearts," Gantz said in an appearance that should have taken place yesterday but was postponed after Gaza rescued four hostages in a bombing operation that killed more than 270 Gazans.

Minutes after the announcement, Netanyahu reproached him that it is "the time to join forces" and not to walk out because of disagreements over the handling of the Gaza war.

"Israel is in an existential war on several fronts. Benny (Gantz) this is not the time to abandon the campaign, this is the time to join forces," Netanyahu said on the social network X, in which he recalled that the offensive will continue until victory.
In addition, Netanyahu recalled that the doors remain open to "any Zionist party" that wants to collaborate in defeating the "enemies and guaranteeing the security" of Israel's citizens.
