An injured Jersey cow was rescued from a snake-infested well in India.

The animal plunged down the 60ft-deep well in convent school behind on June 16, prompting locals and animal lovers to a rescue mission.

Footage shows the animal lying in the bottom of the well filled with water. The resident lowered a ladder to reach the animal and tied a rope around its body before it was lifted up.
A volunteer from the nongovernment organisation Atal Kamdhenu Gau Seva Sansthan climbed down to help it before the others pulled it up.

Wildlife worker Gaurav Mishra said it took five hours and eight people before the animal was saved. After a lot of struggle and effort, the Jersey cow was taken out safely from the well. The weight of the Jersey cow must have been about 1 ton, and there were many snakes in the well. It was injured but were treated afterwards.
