An aggressive pet rooster chased a neighbour down the street to keep him off its territory.

The white bird spotted the man walking in front of its owner's property and looking at their home in Cebu province, the Philippines, on June 13.

Suddenly, the chicken turned furious and dashed towards the passerby, who fled.

Footage shows the angry bird running toward the lad who was amused by its behaviour.

The lad, Aaron Arboladura, said: 'I was jogging around our neighbourhood when the chicken saw me. It was guarding their home.'

Roosters establish and vigorously defend a territory around their flock of hens. The territory provides food, nesting areas, and protection for their hens and offspring.
