This is the disgusting moment a shopper found a frozen centipede inside her tub of ice cream in India.

Deepa Devi had a container of Amul vanilla ice cream delivered to her home to make mango smoothies for her children amid a scorching heat wave in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on June 17.

However, upon opening the tub, she discovered the many-legged arthropod embedded in the frozen treat.

She said while recording the tainted ice cream: 'Oh my God. I recently purchased Amul ice cream from BlinkIt to make mango shakes for the children. To my dismay, I found a centipede in the ice cream container. This is a clear example of Amul's negligence.

'Thankfully, I discovered the centipede before the children could have opened the box themselves and potentially encountered an unavoidable situation by consuming the ice cream. This incident has left me quite unsettled and disappointed.'

Delivery company BlinkIt said it has refunded 195 INR (2 GBP) to Deepa and reported the incident to Amul Ice Cream.

In response to the complaint, Amul requested Deepa to send the ice cream tub for investigation.

In a statement on June 17, Amul said: 'We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to her because of this incident. During our meeting with the customer, we had requested her to provide the said ice cream tub for investigation, unfortunately, the customer refused to hand over the same.

'Unless the tub is retrieved from the customer it would be difficult for us to investigate the matter and hence comment specifically on the issue which involves pack and supply chain integrity as well.

'We would like to assure you that we take the utmost care to ensure our products are safe, healthy and nutritious to serve our customers daily. Once we receive the tub from the customer, we shall investigate the matter from all angles and again get back to our customers with the findings.'

The incident came just five days after a doctor discovered a human finger in his ice cream.

Orlem Brandon Serrao, 26, ordered three Yummo ice cream cones but was shocked to find the severed digit while biting into the dessert.

A case was filed against the Yummo brand for 'food adulteration and endangering human life'.
