A Russian tourist who had her leg crushed between a ferry and a pier was rescued in Thailand.

Albina Bogdanova, 60, was returning from Koh Lan island with her family when she lost her footing while stepping onto the pier in Pattaya, on December 10.

As strong winds and waves violently rocked the ferry, the holidaymaker's leg was said to have slipped between the gap before being slammed against the concrete.

Albina screamed as the impact crushed her ankle, with shocked bystanders rushing to pull her to safety.

A passenger recounted: 'She was screaming in terrible pain. The boat kept moving back and forth with the waves, and suddenly her leg was caught. It happened in seconds.'

Footage shows medics tending to the Russian woman, seen yowling in pain while they applied first aid. She was rushed to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital with cuts and a compound ankle fracture.

The Thai Meteorological this week warned of heavy rain and waves up to 10 feet tall in the Gulf of Thailand from December 11 to 16.

Pattaya is one of Thailand's most famous tourist destinations, known for its beaches and seedy nightlife industry. The resort city has also become a popular retreat for Russian tourists dodging the draft.
