Storyline:
The second round of Iranian presidential election set to begin on Thursday will decide the winner between the final contenders former chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and former Health Minister Masoud Pezeshkian.

The runoff election follows the first round, which concluded on June 29 without any candidate achieving the required minimum threshold of 50 percent of the votes.

Over 61 million eligible Iranians will cast their ballots from 8:00 local time Thursday.

The voting is scheduled to last for 10 hours, but the Iranian Ministry of Interior may extend the hours if necessary, with the final closing time no later than midnight.

The ministry is expected to announce the election results on Friday. The candidate who receives the majority of votes will be declared the new president of Iran.

Iran's 14th presidential election, initially set for 2025, was rescheduled following the unexpected death of former President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash in late May.
