Major fire erupts aboard cargo ship ferrying 'Dangerous goods', explosives off Goa coast; Indian coast guard to the rescue

The MV Maersk Frankfurt container ship, which had left Malaysia on June 2, caught fire 50 nautical miles from Karwar.

India Coast Guard MRCC Mumbai received distress call on July 19 from container carrier MV Maersk Frankfurt 50 NM off Karwar regarding major fire onboard.

Based on the information received by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, Mumbai India Coast Guard Darnier aircraft, ICG Sachet, Sujeet, Samrat boats and ALH Druv embarked on rescue mission.
