Uttrakhand police rescues stranded trekkers in northern India; 10 evacuated, more on the way

In a swift rescue operation in northern India’s Uttarakhand, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has successfully evacuated ten trekkers stranded. The team, led by Inspector Aniruddh Bhandari, continues efforts to rescue the remaining individuals.

The incident took place on the Madmaheshwar Trek in the Rudraprayag district on July 26, Friday.

Visuals showed the SDRF team reached the site where the stranded individuals were stuck and initially led them to a secure area where the helicopter could safely land. Upon arriving at this designated location, the stranded individuals took a moment to express their deep appreciation to the SDRF team for their dedicated efforts. They warmly thanked the rescuers, acknowledging their critical role in the operation. After this heartfelt exchange of gratitude and praise, the individuals boarded the helicopter, which then took off, ensuring their safe departure from the challenging location. The coordinated effort between the ground and aerial teams facilitated a smooth and successful rescue operation.

On the Madmaheshwar trek in Rudraprayag district, a dramatic rescue operation has been underway as the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) battles adverse conditions to save stranded trekkers. Led by Inspector Aniruddh Bhandari, the SDRF team utilized a helicopter to reach the remote location of Nanu, situated 5 kilometers below Madmaheshwar, where approximately 25 to 30 individuals were trapped.

The team successfully airlifted 10 of the stranded trekkers to safety. Rescue operations are ongoing, with efforts being made to evacuate the remaining trekkers as soon as possible. In addition to the aerial rescue, another SDRF team has reached the scene on foot from Augustmuni, providing critical support to the operation.

The quick response and coordination between aerial and ground teams have been pivotal in ensuring the safety of those affected. SDRF continues to work tirelessly to complete the rescue mission and provide relief to all stranded individuals.
