An "axis" runs south to north through the old city of Beijing, standing as a wonder of Chinese urban planning and construction.

This "axis" is none other than the Central Axis of Beijing.

Consisting of 15 heritage elements and stretching for 7.8 kilometers, the north-south axis has stood in the center of Beijing for over 700 years.

Renowned architect Liang Sicheng once said, "The unique sublime and magnificent spatial order of Beijing was generated by this central axis."

The Central Axis of Beijing was placed on China's tentative list of world cultural heritage sites in 2012.

The past 12 years of heritage protection have presented anew to the world the grand and majestic Beijing Central Axis, in all its unfading and spectacular glory.

The urban complex includes imperial palaces, imperial temples and altars, ancient urban management facilities, national ceremonial and public buildings, and streets.

This forms a landscape of rhythm and majestic order, and of front-rear undulations and left-right symmetry.

It is a model of the mature stage of central axis development, standing as a testament to the wisdom of the Chinese people.

As a precious cultural heritage, the Central Axis showcases the charm of Chinese culture.
