France: Paris Olympics sets example in highlighting inclusiveness
Paris, France - Recent
The ongoing Paris Olympic Games sets an example in the new era in inclusiveness and sustainability for Olympics, said an official.
In an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN), Frederic Laferriere, president of the Paris Departmental Olympics and Sports Committee, emphasized the importance of the new Olympic motto: "higher, faster, stronger, and together."
"It's the motto, it's the Olympic motto. We added 'together' since Tokyo Olympics, and I believe it's necessary. In Paris, you might have noticed that we use the same logo for the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games," he said.
Laferriere highlighted the complete inclusiveness of the Games, achieving full gender parity and prioritizing sustainable development and low-energy transportation, setting an example for future events.
"There is complete inclusiveness here. Gender parity will be complete for the first time, even though Tokyo came close. The Paris Games will open a new era, as we paid attention to sustainable development long before. We also paid attention to low-energy transportation. So, the Paris Games will set an example for the future events in terms of economy that must be environmentally-friendly. It's very important," he said.
