Strong wind causes widespread damage and chaos in northern China
On July 30, 2024, the cities of Zunhua and Yutian in Tangshan, Hebei Province, were struck by extreme weather, including a tornado that caused significant damage. The tornado tore through the area, damaging numerous homes and uprooting trees, power poles, and crops, leaving a scene of devastation.
Witnesses reported that the sky suddenly darkened in the afternoon, followed by violent winds. Metal sheets, billboards, and other debris were blown around, smashing windows in many homes and causing varying degrees of destruction to farmland.
Meteorological authorities have confirmed the presence of strong winds but are still investigating whether a tornado was responsible. Damage assessments are ongoing, and officials have advised the public to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary safety precautions.
