Mum completes £200k five year project to turn her entire home into pastel paradise
A mum has completed a £200,000 five year project to turn her entire home into a pastel paradise.
Sophia Ferrari-Wills, 36, adores everything colourful and was on a one-woman mission to eradicate all 'beige' and grey from her 1960s cottage.
She started in 2019 - but upped the renovations in August last year, vowing to remove, refurbish, paint and upcycle EVERY item that wasn't a pretty pastel shade.
All remaining black, grey and beige has been eradicated; right down to the window frames and ceilings, lamp shades and rugs - and even the wood burner.
A snug was added and a wall knocked through to create an open plan kitchen, with floor-to-ceiling windows added to create the perfect natural light to show off the pastel hues.
People have described the five-bed home as "aesthetic perfection" and after playdates, Sophia's children's friends beg their parents to do the same to their own homes."
The content creator, from Cambridge, Cambs., said: "I'm kind of blind to the pink now - but I love it."
"Friends have said if there was a word to describe my home, it's 'happy' - it brings joy, calm and an overwhelming sense of peace."
"We had to turn the playroom into a makeshift kitchen while all the work was being done - but it was worth it!"
Sophia said she has always been a huge fan of pastels - and luckily her husband, Chris Ferrari-Wills, 44, and daughters Clemmie, five, and Minnie, three, are too.
After moving into a 1960s cottage with her family in 2019, she turned each room into a mini pastel haven.
But it wasn't enough for her - and in August last year she began a £200k renovation and redecoration to make sure EVERYTHING fit the theme.
An old orangery in the back garden was replaced with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors to let in more light.
Sophia designed the new interior herself, which was brought to life by a bespoke kitchen company, Sheraton Interiors.
The renovation was completed in May, ten months after it began in full, and set the family back around £200,000 in total.
Some of Sophia's favourite new features include new "buttery yellow" cabinets in the pantry, the pink-framed sliding doors and windows, and their tiled baby pink splash-back in the kitchen."
They also created a pastel blue media wall for their new snug, which matches their pastel blue sofa - and floral wallpapered ceiling.
The hallway and downstairs loo have new floral tiles in peach, apricot and mint green shades, while the kitchen now has has cloud print worktops to give a "dreamy and ethereal" feel."
The carpets downstairs have been replaced and are complemented by a pastel pink and green runner on the stairs.
She said: "In the kitchen, the only black details are the hob and the oven, and you don't even see them because everything else is so pastel."
"We all love it - even my husband, he thinks the colours really suit the house."
"There are always more things I want to do, but it's really close to getting there now."
"We did entertain pink taps and cabinet handles but the quality wasn't so good, so we got cottagey brass ones which fit the theme."
"And the handles, I said they couldn't be pink, they had to be scalloped so everything looks like flowers."
After sharing her renovation online, people were stunned - with one describing it as "aesthetic perfection."
But the biggest fans of the pastel home are five-year-old Clemmie's friends - who run home and beg for their own pink home.
Sophia added: "They all say they want a Barbie Dreamhouse like ours - I'm causing issues for their parents!"
