USA: Toluca Lake 2 Cats Perish in Greater Alarm Structure Fire

08/19/2024 03:18 pm (GMT-0700) | TOULCA LAKE, LOS ANGELES – Two cats were ultimately found deceased after Los Angeles Fire Department crews battled a greater alarm house fire in Toluca Lake Monday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a home in the 10100 block of West Toluca Lake Avenue and found heavy flames consuming the first and second floors of a 2,200 square foot, two-story home built in 1960, according to the LAFD.

The fire was extinguished in 42 minutes by 77 LAFD firefighters at the scene, reported the department. There were no human injuries reported, however, four pet cats were initially unaccounted for at the time of the fire.

LAFD firefighters conducted a systemic search for the four missing cats which led to the discovery of two felines within the heavily burnt residence, the LAFD reported. The other two pet cats remain unaccounted for at the time of the last update from the LAFD.

The cause of the fire is under active investigation.
