On September 1, 2024, a fire broke out at the Moscow Oil Refinery (MNPZ) in the Kapotnya region, Russia, following a Ukrainian drone attack. Emergency services reported that a downed drone damaged a technical room at the refinery, and the fire has been assigned the highest complexity level, number five. This level indicates a complicated situation requiring additional firefighting resources. The attack was part of a larger drone assault that saw 158 UAVs shot down across 15 regions of the Central Federal District, including two over Moscow and seven over the Moscow Region, according to the Ministry of Defense.
