Venice, Italy - September 08, 2024

The 81st edition of the Venice Film Festival awarded the Golden Lion for best film to Spanish director Pedro Almodovar for his first English-language film, The Room Next Door, starring Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton. The film addresses themes such as the estrangement between an imperfect mother and a resentful daughter, as well as exploring war, death, friendship and sexual pleasure, Almodovar said.
