This is the amusing moment a sleeping foal woke up when its herd was blocking a road.

A driver and her friends spotted the wild horses gathered on the highway in Xilingol, Inner Mongolia, on July 21.

Footage shows the motionless foal lying on the ground, surrounded by the other horses. Moments later, a truck approaching from the opposite lane startled the baby horse, causing it to quickly stand up and walk away with its companions.

The filmer said: 'We thought the pony was dead and was being guarded by the other horses.'

Inner Mongolia, a region in northern China, is home to some of the last remaining wild horses in the world, known as Przewalski's horses.

These steeds, sometimes referred to as 'Mongolian wild horses' or 'takhi' in Mongolian, are considered the only truly wild horse species that has never been domesticated.
