Unexpected Double Proposal: Love and Laughter at a Concert as Girlfriend Proposes to Boyfriend
Newsflare Exclusive - This video captures the unforgettable moment of a double proposal at the Modest Mouse concert on June 14, 2024, at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. As Modest Mouse played, I (Rachel Hundertmark, 35) dropped to one knee, surprising my boyfriend, Rashad Polk (41), with an engagement ring. Just as the crowd started to cheer, he burst out laughing and pulled out his own ring, dropping to his knee as well. In a beautifully serendipitous twist, we had both planned to propose at the exact same time! There was raw joy, shock, and laughter as we knelt beside each other, both so overwhelmed that we forgot to even say "yes." Instead, we hugged on our knees as the crowd around us cheered, and the music played on in the background. It was an unexpected, magical moment of mutual love and commitment, made even more special by the incredible atmosphere of the concert.
This proposal was part of a love story that started at another Modest Mouse concert in April 2022. We had our first date at Rams Head in Baltimore, where the band played, and concerts became a symbol of our relationship. When we attended the June 2024 show at Merriweather Post Pavilion, I felt it would be the perfect place to propose, given the sentimental connection we have with the band. Little did I know, my boyfriend had the same idea! We both carefully planned our proposals without the other knowing. The sheer surprise from both of us, followed by the spontaneous, joyful reactions, made this moment one we, and the crowd around us, will never forget. This video is a testament to love, timing, and the power of music to bring people together in ways we never expected.
The video was filmed by my 16-year-old daughter, Jasmine Halstead, on her Samsung Galaxy phone, adding another layer of personal significance to this special moment.
